Who Can Apply?
The competition is open to undergraduate students currently studying in Nigerian universities.
Students from universities across all six geopolitical zones are eligible to participate. This includes students from:
- North Central
- North East
- North West
- South East
- South South
- South West
There is no restriction to students studying pension, finance, economics or business-related courses. Undergraduate students in Nigerian universities can participate, provided they meet the competition requirements.
Each participant is allowed to submit only one entry.
Essay Topic
Participants are required to write on:
“Beyond Traditional Service Channels: Leveraging Social Media and Digital Technology to Improve Retirement EXPERIENCE for Nigerian Workers”
The topic gives students an opportunity to examine how modern communication and technology can change the way pension administrators interact with workers and retirees.
A strong essay could explore how social media platforms, mobile applications, online portals, artificial intelligence, automated customer service, digital education and other technologies can make pension services more accessible.

NUPEMCO Essay Competition Prizes
The competition has three major prizes:
First Position:

NUPEMCO will also provide consolation prizes for the next three best entries after the top three positions.

Importantly, applicants are instructed not to include their name, institution or other personal identifying information in the PDF file. NUPEMCO will collect participants' biodata and contact information separately through the designated submission process.
